Short History of TheWhiskyExchange.com (TWE)
Founded by two brothers Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh who have a long family history in alcohol retail. Going back to the family off license started in 1973 called ‘The Nest’ in Hanwell London. Rajbir and Sukhinder Singh always had a fascination with the single malt whiskies that sat on the top shelf of their parents wine and spirit shop. They became avid collectors of single malt miniature bottles and accumulated a massive collection of over 5,500. They eventually sold this collection in the 90’s to a bar in Oslo Norway.
When their parents retired and the off license was sold in 1999. This paved the way for the two sons to make there own way in the drinks industry. Launching a high-end drinks business in 1999 operating from an Hanwell trading estate. The Whisky Exchange was born it was a website where lovers of whisky could buy, swap and sell bottles listed. The website started out just selling whisky alone, but in 2003 a full category of spirit ranges was added.
The Whisky Exchange has matured into a first rate online spirit and speciality whisky retailer. Selling to the UK and the world from a very user friendly website. Plus two London whisky shops one in Covent Garden and another on Great Portland Street.
