History of Figleaves

Founded by Daniel Nabarro a Cambridge graduate with a background in electrical sciences in November 1998. He was assisted by Michael Ross a data and maths wizard. It initially started life as easyshop.co.uk selling underwear and fragrances online. Figleaves was an early starter online and one of the first lingerie e-tailers if not the pioneer in underwear and lingerie retailing on the internet in the UK. In 2000 they rebranded to Figleaves.com and focussed on the sale of underwear, sourcing the best lingerie brands from around the world. The products on sale cover all the under garment categories like underwear, sleepwear, nightwear and swimwear.
They have had a rather steady growth with no major mergers apart from investment from Balderton Capital a private equity group purchasing a big percentage around 40% in 2005.
The home shopping mail order catalogue company N Brown Group PLC who own some of the oldest names in catalogues acquired Figleaves in June 2010 for £11.5 million. This makes N Brown the number one seller of knickers online in the UK retailing over 100 underwear brands. Especially targeting plus size women with sizes covering AA to K cup and 28”- 56” back size.
The head office is in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire UK in addition to a customer service centre and warehouse in Suffolk. Miriam Lahage is the current (CEO) Chief Executive Officer she has worked at major companies such as NET-A-PORTER, P&C, TJX and eBay. In February 2021 the Figleaves website closed. They do offer gift wrapping and boxing but there is an additional charge for this. The gift boxing service for all items including lingerie is taken out of the original packaging and presented beautifully into a gift box. There is no invoice or paper work sent in the box and they can also be delivered direct to the lucky person.
