A Little About
History of B and Q
Fast Growth
Rapid expansion followed and by 1979 there was 26 B&Q DIY outlets. During this growth the two chaps began to drift apart and in 1976 when they had 13 stores co-founder Richard Block sold his shares in B&Q for £400,000. He went on to grow tomatoes on a commercial basis in the Channel Islands. David Quayle stayed on for another 4 years before B & Q was taken over in 1982 by Woolworths or the group that owned Woolworths Kingfisher for £16.8m. Quayle went on to run other successful ventures including art and video rental businesses. After a very prosperous 80s the B and Q empire under the ownership of Woolworths/Kingfisher group grew. By 2016 there was 320 home improvement superstores throughout the UK. With over 50 abroad. Other concepts were introduced like B&Q warehouse format and the trade counters. Further store services included home delivery and the website www.diy.com. Which provided an extensive collection of how to guides on a range of home improvement diy projects.Questions Asked
