History of boohoo.com
Manchester’s tradition of being at the top of the textile trade is carried on at Boohoo with Mahmud Kamani and cofounder Carol Kane.
Kamani and Kane worked together at Pinstripe Clothing, a company run by Kamani’s father Abdullah. Pinstripe was a supplier to ASOS and it also designed and sourced clothes for the cheap clothing giant Primark.
Launched in 2006 boohoo.com has been the online go to website for every astute fashion shopper ever since. They cut out the middle man with the aim of selling on-trend clothes via the website directly, and cheaply, to online shoppers.
The company as gone on to dominate in its class with Mahmud Kamani’s sons Umar, Adam and Samir spreading the word across social media. Adam and Samir cofounded an offshoot fashion business PrettyLittleThing which is now part of boohoo.
