History of AO (Appliances Only)
Founded by John Roberts in 2000 and headquartered in the Northern UK town of Bolton. They have also expanded into Europe with a strong presence in Germany. In 2019 they processed their millionth fridge.
The AO company was purportedly established by John Roberts over a £1 bet in a Bolton pub. AO initially started life in 2000 as “Appliances Only” but rebranded to AO.com in 2003. They have a strong online presence and even sponsored the 11th series of Britain’s Got Talent show.
John Roberts is worth over 200 million and famously said he would not be leaving the money to his kids.
Questions Asked
AO Electrical do offer click and collect on smaller items. They do not offer click and collect on large items like kitchen appliances.
They only deliver to ground floor. You will be asked about steps up to your home when booking delivery. The final say will be left to the delivery driver if stairs are negotiated, nudge nudge wink wink (tip).
